Looking to jazz up your gifts with festive handmade tags, but not a fan of the bright reds and greens? Check out these elegant neutral tags that are sure to look fabulous beneath your tree.
Today’s project is from our designer, Carol, who says, “These gift tags are gorgeous, yet are so quick and easy to make! Using the same tag die and cardstock simplifies everything.” Wheat we love most about these tags, is that they are neutral colors, which make them a classy option for those who wrap their gifts differently. We have gotten lost down the rabbit hole of all the many ways to theme wrap your gifts, so we are very aware of how aesthetically pleasing these tags can be! Follow along as Carol walks us through the steps to recreate these amazing neutral tags.
Directions:
- First we will do all of our die cutting.
- Die cut three of the largest 5514-02D Holiday Tags Dies from kraft cardstock.
- Next die cut two 5743D Greenery Wreath w/Flowers die from white cardstock.
- Next with the 5716-03D Large Stacked Poinsettia Die and white cardstock, cut out three of the smallest layer. Die cut two of the next-to-smallest layer. Die cut one middle sized layer from white cardstock.
- Choose three of the 5716-02D Large Snowflake Dies to die cut from white cardstock. (Note: I ended up die cutting two more snowflakes for five total.)

- Next we will add white splatters to the tags. There are specific products for this or a white acrylic paint works just fine too.
- Put a bit of the medium onto your craft mat. If needed, dilute with a few drops of water. Then use a paint brush to pick up the paint and splatter onto the tags. How much you add is totally up to you!
- As you can see in this next photo, the tag on the left looks a bit different. Well, when I sat my brush down, it rolled over onto the tag. So instead of starting over, I just made it look intention and painted a bit more onto the tag. I think it looks like snow built up and will use this one for the snowflake die cuts.

- Next we will assemble our die cut wreath and poinsettia layers.
- First use glue to adhere the two 5743D Greenery Wreath w/Flower die cuts. Be sure to offset them to create more dimension.
- Use your fingers to lightly shape the petals of the 5716-03D Large Stacked Poinsettia die cuts. Then glue the layers together to create two flowers.
- Layer the 5716-02D Snowflake die cuts as desired.
- Now we will plan for our sentiments.
- I arranged the die cuts onto each tag to get an idea of how it would look.

- A lot of times, like this time, I will choose a sentiment that “fits” my design. For instance, some sentiments are horizontal rather than vertical. The stamped size of the sentiment is also a factor.
- I found three sentiments in the 36005 Kittie Says Christmas stamp set that work perfectly.
- I stamped each sentiment onto white cardstock with black ink.
- Then I looked through my dies to find shaped dies that would look good to die cut the sentiments.
- I used two dies from the 5501D Small Tags Die set and used the second smallest die in the 5016D Nested Rounded Corner Square Die set.

- Die cut the sentiments and add foam tape to the back of each one.
- Do a bit more planning to choose which sentiment will go onto each tag.
- Then adhere the die cut elements to each tag with glue.
- Next adhere the sentiments.

- Now I think these look so pretty as is, but, I think gift tags need to be blinged out a bit!
- I looked through my ribbons to see what colors I have to use. (Yes, I have saved a lot of ribbon from years ago, haha!) Once I pulled out my ribbons, that helps me to decide what color of gems to add.
- Have fun tying on the ribbons and blinging up the tags, then sit back and enjoy your beautiful creations!

These tags are beyond beautiful and we feel so inspired to create some festive neutral gift tags of our own. If you want to see more gift tag designs, check out these projects! Happy Crafting!
