If you love interactive cards and unique folds that add character and dimension to your project, look no further, because this card is perfect!
Our designer Kendra just loves creating unique folded cards and we have loved seeing all the different ways she has folded paper to bring a card to the next level, (check out some other folds here). Today she is showcasing an Oval fun-fold card that is dazzling in its hues of purple and stunning florals. Follow along to see how Kendra has made this unique creation and try this fold out for yourself.

- Cut a piece of orchid cardstock 8.5″ x 5.5″. Score at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″.
- Place the 3″ x 4″ oval from ‘5014D Nested Oval Small Stitch Dies‘ on the front of the card base. Lightly add tape to only the left side. (Kendra just eye-balled this, if you feel more comfortable measuring to make each side even you can.) Open the card up and only run the left side through die cutting machine. Carefully remove from machine, not removing the tape yet. Close the card and add tape to the right side. Then remove the tape from the left side and open card up. Discard cut half oval. Run right side of base through die cutting machine. Remove tape and die. Discard half cut oval.
- Cut a piece of white with purple polka dots from ‘2204 Marbled Perfection 6×6 Paper Pad‘ 4″ x5.25″. Place the 3.375″ x 4.375″ oval from ‘5014D Nested Oval Small Stitch Dies‘ in the middle. (Again Kendra just eye-balled this, if you feel more comfortable measuring to make each side is even you can.) Cut in half at 2″. Then trim 1/8″ from each of the insides. Adhere layers to card base. (Oval can be discarded or put aside to be used another time)
- Die cut the 4″ x 5.25″ rectangle from ‘5013D Nested Rectangle Small Stitch‘ from a piece of white with purple stripe pattern paper from ‘2204 Marbled Perfection 6×6 Paper Pad‘. Adhere to the inside of the card base.
- Die cut the 2.625 x 3.625 oval from ‘5014D Nested Oval Small Stitch Dies‘ from a purple cardstock. Adhere oval to inside of card, centered in oval opening.
- Die cut the 2.25″ x 3.25″ oval from white cardstock. Stamp a ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ sentiment from ‘3417 Mother’s Day‘ in black ink near the top of the white oval. Also stamp the ‘Words are not enough to thank you for all that you do.’ sentiment in black ink to the right side of the oval. Adhere to purple oval.
- Use the ‘2017/3316D Delightful Dahlia Paper Pad Coordinating Die‘ to die cut pink, purple and teal dahlias from the ‘2017 Delightful Dahlia 6×6 Paper Pad‘. Also use the die to cut from a piece of orchid cardstock. (Kendra used the smaller dahlias and leaves.) Place the flowers and leaves on card to your liking. Adhere to card when you find an arrangement you like. Kendra placed two flowers and several leaves inside the card and placed one purple dahlia and some leaves on the front. When the card opens you would see the bright orange paper behind the purple dahlia. Kendra adhered the die cut small dahlia from orchid cardstock behind the purple dahlia, so that when opened the back would coordinate with the card base.
- Finish by adding three rhinestones to front upper right of card.
Notes:
- By altering the design a little you can add a belly band if you wish to help keep the card closed.
- A different shape could also be used, other than an oval.

AMAZING! This Oval Fun-Fold Card is perfect for Mom. We can’t wait to use this design for every season. We hope you love this project as much as we do and that you introduce this fold into your craft room fun.
