Fishing Card for the Outdoorsy Type

Have an outdoorsy type dad or friend? This is the perfect card for the nature loving fisherman in your life!

Today’s card comes from our amazing designer, Christina! We love the layers she used for the background, adding masculine touches with the wood plank and cheesecloth. If you have an outdoorsy type in your life, this fishing card is perfection! Follow along as Christina walks us through the steps to make this fun project.

How to make this card:

  • Die cut multiple Wood Planks from brown cardstock.
  • Attach the Wood Planks to a 4 ¼ x 5 ½  inch green cardstock panel with liquid adhesive, leaving a ¼ inch border.
  • Stamp the Cheesecloth Background Stamp on white cardstock using Color Fuse Inks in Juniper, Basil, and Mocha. Apply each color to different areas of the stamp and let them blend together a bit where the colors meet and then stamp the image.
  • Die cut the stamped background with the second largest Nested Deckle Rectangle Die and attach to the wood planks with liquid adhesive.
  • Stamp the fishing-themed images from the Fishing 1 and Fishing 2 Stamp Sets on mixed media or watercolor paper with watercolor-safe black ink.
  • Color the images with watercolor markers using a wet on wet technique by wetting the paper with a little clean water and a brush before adding any color.
  • With the coordinating dies, die cut the watercolor images and then die cut again from plain white cardstock. Stack the die cuts for added stability and adhere together with liquid adhesive.
  • Attach the die cut watercolor images to the card panel with liquid adhesive and foam squares where any images overlap.
  • Stamp the sentiment from Dad Phrases in black ink on white cardstock.
  • Trim the sentiment with a paper cutter and then notch the ends with scissors to create a banner.
  • Add clear drops as embellishment.

We love how well she colored up these images. It’s a fun set and a staple for Father’s Day. Shop these sets below!
