How to Make a Patriotic Beach Card

Want to create a Patriotic card that embodies the feeling of summer? Check out this firecracker of a project that is bringing Fourth of July beach vibes!

Summer is about so much more than warm weather, it’s about warm beach days, vacation, gathering with friends and family, ice cream, hot dogs, fireworks, freedom! Today’s card by Dominique is giving us wonderful Patriotic Beach vibes, and we are here for it! Follow along as she walks us through the steps to create this wonderful card!

How to make this card:

  • Starting with a sheet of sunset on the beach patterned paper from the #2207 Tropical Dreams 6×6 Paper Pad, I cut it down to 4 1/2in x 6in panel. I then selected a sheet of solid light brown paper from the paper pack. This will act as the sand. Cut this down to 1/2 x 6 strip.
  • Place the three firework dies from 5319-04D Star Burst / Fireworks Die onto your card panel in your desired location and die cut.
  • Next, take a piece of blue glitter cardstock and adhere it behind your card panel so that the glittery side is visible through the cutouts.
  • Now, let’s give the light brown strip of paper a bit more of a sandy texture. Take a sponge dauber and Amaretto ink and lightly daub on your ink. Once you are happy with the look, adhere it to the card panel.
  • Stamp on your greeting. I’m using the Thanks stamp from the 3308 Kittie Says Phrases #1 stamps set. I stamped this in Crimson ink.
  • Moving on to our beach girls. Using the images from 35057 Beach Girls stamp set, I stamped all three onto a white sheet of card stock. I stamped them in Amaretto ink because I was going to attempt some no-line coloring. Once stamped, color your beach girls using your desired ink colors. Since I was going for a more patriotic feel, I decided to give them all red colored bathing suits.
  • Once you are happy with your coloring, die cut the images using the coordinating dies, 35057D Beach Girls Die. Place some double sided adhesive on the back of on them and then secure to your card panel.
  • After that was completed, I felt as if I needed a few more fireworks. I die cut the medium and small size fireworks from red glitter cardstock. Due to the card stock being so thick, the cut out bits did not immediately pop out. This worked to my advantage as I was able to add some small drops of glue to each piece. Then I glued them down to my panel in one go. I gently pulled up the remaining cardstock, making sure my cutout bits stayed in place.
  • Lastly, add some adhesive to the back of your card panel and secure them to a 4 1/2in x 6in card base.

WOW! We adore this sunny patriotic beach creation! Great job Dominique! We love the way she cut the dies out of the base of the card and popped the glitter paper behind it. So creative. We also love a fresh take on a 4th of July card. The word “Thankful” on the front can be attributed to so many things…friends, summer, and our freedoms!
