How to Make a Valentine Card Using Two Dies, 3 Shades of Paper, and One Great Sentiment

Valentine Card Using Two Dies, 3 Shades of Paper, and One Great Sentiment

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and what better way to show someone you care than by making a handmade card! With just one die, 3 shades of paper, and one great sentiment, you can create a beautiful and thoughtful card.

Dawn’s handmade Valentine’s Day card is not only simple to make, but it also shows someone special that you put thought and effort into creating something just for them. Dawn chose to make her card using 3 color shades of paper, pink, dark pink, and a patterned piece from our “Heart Strings” paper pad which coordinated with both the pink and red shades. Join us as Dawn walks us through the steps to create this amazing card!

  • Cut out ‘5611-02D-Love with Flowers Die‘ in two different shades of pink.
  • This is what you will be left with.
  • Next, pick out a piece of patterned paper from the ‘2201-Hearts Strings Paper Pad‘.
  • Using the ‘5500-01D-Nested Inside Scallop Frame‘, cut out the patterned piece of paper.
  • Make sure the image is going the correct way for your card.
  • Using ‘36024-I Adore You Set‘ choose a sentiment to stamp.
  • Dawn stamped the sentiment on the bottom of the card stock, then cut it out leaving about an 1/8″ – 1/2″ on each side.
  • She used the darker pink card stock to mat the sentiment. This gives the sentiment a finished look.
  • As you can see inside the black box, Dawn offset the two pinks of the die cut from ‘5611-02D-Love with Flower Die‘ and glued them together.
  • Using the same two colors of pink used to cut the die, cut the layers for the card.
  • The light layer will be 4″ x 5 1/4″.
  • The dark layer will be 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.
  • Compose the card by laying the pieces on the card to determine placement.
  • Finally, glue the layers together.
  • Use dimensional tape to pop up the sentiment and the two images cut from ‘5611-02D-Love with Flowers Die‘.
  • Add the completed panel to the 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card base and the card is complete!

Making a handmade Valentine’s Day card is a lovely way to show your loved ones how much you care. The great news is you don’t need a lot of material to create a beautiful and unique card as shown by Dawn in this amazing card. Don’t forget to check out Brass and Bliss on our social media accounts.
