Summer Birthday Boy Card Idea

Looking for some birthday card inspiration for that sweet boy in your life? Todays shark card has sun, waves and sandcastles, and is sure to bring a smile to the birthday boys face!

Today Kendra has a boy themed birthday card to share! She likes the cute images in the Swim Party stamp set. The shark with sunglasses on is giving off such cool-guy vibes and is just perfect for today’s card. We also love her use of stencils and textured paper, which give so many fun elements to this project. Follow along to see how Kendra creates this perfect handmade card.

  • Kendra started her card by creating an A2 sized card base.
  • Die cut 5148-05D Frame with Curves-Pierce two times from white cardstock. Remove center pieces from one and set frame aside, this will be the ‘good frame’. Remove pieces from the other as well, this one we will use for inking the center pieces.
  • Ink the top two pieces from the frame with Lemon Color Fuse Ink. Set pieces inside the frame. Lay the 4108 Sun Burst Stencil so that the ‘sun center’ is on the top left. Ink pieces with Autumn Color Fuse Ink. Set pieces aside.
  • Ink the two middle pieces with Artic Color Fuse Ink. Set the pieces inside the background frame. Lay the 4105 Wavy Stencil and ink with Sky Color Fuse Ink. Set pieces aside.
  • Ink two bottom pieces first with Mocha Color Fuse Ink. Using an inking tool with a rounded pad, dab the ink on the pieces to give it a ‘sand’ look. Repeat using Pecan Color Fuse ink to add another shade.
  • Adhere ‘good frame’ on top of the frame that you used when stenciling. (You don’t need to do this step, but Kendra likes the added dimension) Adhere to card base. Glue layers inside frame.
  • Die cut 5147-07D Sun Moon Die from yellow cardstock. Adhere outer piece to upper left of card with glue. Adhere center sun piece with pop dots.
  • Die cut the pail from 5314-01D Sand Toys, pail in red cardstock and handle in grey cardstock. Die cut piece of sand from 5314-02D Sand Castle in brown cardstock and adhere to look like there is sand in the bucket. Adhere about 1 1/8″ from bottom right of card base.
  • Die cut 5314-02D Sand Castle Die from three different shades of brown cardstock, grey cardstock for the flag pole and red cardstock for the flag. Adhere black strips behind the castle pieces to cover the windows. Adhere sand castle together. Add to bottom right of card base with foam tape.
  • Stamp the shark with the donut and fish from the 36042 Swim Party and color with Copic markers. De cut images. Adhere to card with pop dots.
  • Stamp the ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment from 3419 Dad Phrases in black ink on the right side of the second from top ‘sun’ piece.
  • Finish card by adding three yellow rhinestones to the die cut sun.

Beachy Perfection! This Summer Birthday Boy card idea is everything we hoped it would be. The castle die looks so awesome in the foreground and really tied this project together. Great job Kendra. Shop these awesome sets below! Happy Crafting!
