Sunny Yellow Summer Card Inspiration

We are in love with this bright summer die cut card inspiration and are longing to have our feet in the sand while catching some summer rays!

Today’s handmade card is brought to us by our Associate Designer, Kittie. If you love our die-cut scenes, then following Kittie is a must. Check out her blog here. This sunny yellow summer card inspiration is just what we needed during this first week of summer and we just love seeing how Kittie puts together such unique and fabulous creations!

Sunny Yellow Summer Die Cut Beach Card by Brass and Bliss craft Co.

Kittie said, “I love how the Beach UmbrellaBeach Bag and Waves die sets match so well with the Brass and Bliss Tropical Dreams 6×6 Paper Pad to create dimension and interest for some summer card inspiration. The Hello Summer sentiment adds the perfect finishing touch. And of course I couldn’t resist adding a few flowers to the hat and flip flops from the Small Flowers #6 set.” We love it too, and hope you are able to create something similar.

How to make this card:

  • Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and yellow cardstock to cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ layer.
  • Attach the yellow layer to the card base using double stick tape.
  • Cut a 5.25″ x 4.00″ layering piece of the Tropical Dreams paper pad.
  • Apply double stick tape to the back of the layer and attach it to the card base.
  • Use white cardstock and one of the Waves dies to cut the scalloped sentiment layer.  Note:  I turned the wave die upside down to create the large scallops.
  • Insert the sentiment stamp and the scallop layer in the MISTI and stamp using Nocturne ink.
  • Attach the sentiment layer to the card base using strips of mounting tape.
  • Use white and yellow cardstock to cut the Beach Umbrella and Beach Bag sections.
  • Assemble and attach the elements together using Connect glue.  Pro Tip:  I added interest to the beach bag by attaching thin white strips with Connect glue.  After the strips were added I trimmed off the extra length with my snips.
  • Cut the Small Flowers using yellow cardstock, lay them face up on the molding pad and push down in the center with a tiny tipped stylus.
  • Attach the flowers to the hat and flip flops using glossy accents.
  • Note:  I thought there needed to be a brighter bit of color so I colored the flowers using a red marker.
  • Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back sides and top of the umbrella and attach it to the card base.
  • Apply a thin strip of rolled up double stick tape to the back of the umbrella pole, tuck it under the umbrella and attach to the card base.
  • Attach the flip flops to the card base using double layered glue dots.  Pro Tip:  Attaching two glue dots together to attach the flip flops creates a bit of dimension so they don’t look flat to the sentiment layer.
  • Apply glue dots to the back bottom of the beach bag and a piece of mounting tape to the back top and attach it to the sentiment layer.
  • Apply a piece of mounting tape to the back of the beach hat and attach it to the card base.
