Using scrap paper on handmade cards

Using up your patterned paper scraps to create two quick and easy cards with die-cut elements is a fantastic way to unleash your creativity and make something beautiful out of leftover materials.

Today’s beautiful card creations come from our Designer, Carol, who is showing us how to use scrap paper on our handmade cards. Begin by selecting a few coordinating paper scraps in colors and patterns that inspire you. Next, choose a couple of your favorite dies to add a touch of charm to your cards. Don’t forget to write a heartfelt message inside each card before gifting them to your loved ones. These handmade creations are not only a great way to use up scraps but also a thoughtful gesture that will surely bring a smile to someone’s face. Enjoy the process of creating and sharing your handmade cards!

Using Scrap Paper on Handmade cards
  • Use scraps, or trim two pieces of paper from the ‘2016 –Welcome Spring Paper Pad‘–one to 1-½” x 5-½” and the other to 2″ x 5-½”. Trim two more pieces if you want to make another card as Carol did here.
  • Adhere each of the two layers together with glue.
  • Glue each layered strip to an A2 white cardstock panel at ½” from the left side.
  • Next place one card panel onto a scoring board face down.
  • Using a scoring tool, score three lines at 3/8″, 1-5/8″, and at 1-¾”.
  • When you turn the card panel face up, you will have a lovely detail on each side of the paper strip.
  • Die cut white cardstock with the dies from ‘5611-06D – Open Greenery #2 Dies‘. Repeat the die cutting so you will have two pieces of each die.
  • Die cut more pink and purple paper from the ‘2016 – Welcome Spring Paper Pad‘ with the largest ‘5611-06D – Open Greenery #2 Die‘.
  • Adhere the ‘5611-06D – Open Greenery #2 Die‘ cut pieces to your card as shown in the photos. Use one white cardstock branch and one colored cardstock branch per card.
  • Just use two or three dots of glue on the back of the stems so the leaves are not adhered, adding more dimension to the card.
  • Choose two sentiments from the ‘3308 – Kittie Says Phrases #1 Stamp Set‘.
  • Stamp the sentiments in black ink, then trim into strips.
  • Adhere the extra pieces of ‘5611-06D – Open Greenery #2 at the end of the large branches.
  • Add foam tape to the back of the sentiments to adhere to your cards.

These were quick and easy cards to make and turned out very elegant. Love the detail of the lines made on the reverse side using a scoring tool.
